Bloober Team Clarifies ‘Silent Hill 2’ Development Comments, Sale Figures

It would appear that development on Bloober Team’s upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake isn’t quite as far as we were initially led to believe. After comments made last week by Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno saying that the remake was “technically ready”, Bloober Team has since clarified that as a mistranslation.

Bloober Team took to Twitter to explain the comments, saying that while the team doesn’t comment on rumours, they felt that this time, they needed to “to take the floor”. The team clarified that despite the comments, Silent Hill 2 is not yet ready for release. “Regardless of the development stage, all of our activities are focused on obtaining the highest quality for the finished product—the quality that fans of Silent Hill 2 deserve. We are aware that players are waiting for more information about Silent Hill 2. As soon as such information becomes available, we are sure that Konami, the publisher for the game, will share it with fans.”

Another point that some had apparently misconstrued was Babieno’s “10 million copies sold” comment. Some fans evidently misinterpreted this as Bloober Team claiming that the remake would sell 10 million copies. “Our company’s messages did not contain sales forecasters of specific titles,” says Bloober Team. “The figures connected to Silent Hill 2 refer to the potential success of the type of games we will be focusing on in the future.”

As Bloober Team alluded to, fans are obviously curious as to how the remake to the 2001 classic is progressing. Despite Bloober Team making the rounds for interviews, we still have not seen any significant gameplay footage from the game ever since it was finally revealed last year. Hopefully that changes later this summer with an official announcement by Konami.

Silent Hill 2 is currently in development for PC via Steam and the PlayStation 5, with the Xbox Series coming at a later date.
