Devolver Digital and developer Wolfeye Studios have pushed the release date of their upcoming dark fantasy title Weird West again. Though this time, we have a definitive date. Originally scheduled for release in January 2022, Weird West now has a March 31 release date for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
“Weird West is an impressively deep mix of action RPG and immersive sim elements built on the Wolfeye team’s experience with Dishonored and Prey,” explains Devolver Digital. “Early feedback is fantastic but, as is the case with any immersive sim, there are a lot of variables that can lead to unintended consequences. More time is needed to deliver an experience that the community expects from Wolfeye and Devolver. The team understands that this might be a disappointment to folks, but want to ensure that the game they’ve worked on for years is launched in the best form possible.”
The team has also released a new video from Wolfeye Studios creative director Raphael Colantonio explaining the decision.
Weird West is a dark fantastical reimagining of the Wild West, where lawmen and gunslingers share the frontier with fantastical creatures, each playing with their own rules and their own peculiar motives. Players will journey through the story of a group of atypical heroes, with each journey being unique and tailored to the actions taken.
