‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ Actress Kathy Lamkin Has Passed Away

We’ve learned some very sad news this week, with Deadline reporting this afternoon that actress Kathy Lamkin has passed away this month at the age of 74 after a short illness.

Lamkin passed away on April 4, her family tells Deadline.

To horror fans, Kathy Lamkin is known for playing “Tea Lady” in 2003’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, reprising the role in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.

Wikipedia explains Lamkin’s character in the franchise, “It is possible, even likely that the tea lady may have been a member of the murderous Hewitt family, or perhaps she was simply an associate. It appeared as if she was aware of the Hewitt family’s more distasteful practices, but she never gave voice to any of it, neither condoning nor condemning their murderous ways. The tea lady was often seen in the company of Henrietta Hewitt as well as Luda May Hewitt.”

Kathy Lampkin also appeared in the Coen Brothers’ Oscar-winning movie No Country for Old Men, as well as the films Fool’s Gold, The Life of David Gale, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Astronaut Farmer, In the Valley of Elah, The Heartbreak Kid, and Sunshine Cleaning. On the small screen Lamkin appeared in “Malcolm in the Middle,” “Nip/Tuck,” and “Medium.”

“Kathy will be missed by her family and friends,” the family wrote in a statement shared by Deadline, “and left an impact on all she that encountered during her life on this Earth.”
