‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’ Video Game – Kane Hodder Did the Motion Capture for Leatherface AND Grandpa

Now available for consoles and PC, Gun Interactive’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre pulls inspiration from Tobe Hooper’s original classic for a multiplayer horror game (read our review), featuring Leatherface alongside both new and classic villains from the original movie. The actor who did the motion capture work for Leatherface in the game? Kane Hodder!

This is insanely cool casting for multiple reasons, one of which is that Hodder actually did Leatherface stunt work back in the ’90s for New Line’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III.

Kane Hodder was the third film’s stunt coordinator, which led to him actually playing the role of Leatherface for several scenes. R.A. Mihailoff is credited as Leatherface in Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3, but from what we gather, Hodder did many of the stunts and action scenes.

Additionally, we’ve learned this week that Kane Hodder also did the motion capture work for another member of Leatherface’s family, pulling double duty as Grandpa Sawyer!

Actor Damian Maffei, who voices new character Johnny in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game, revealed this little fun fact in a new chat with the Cult FM Podcast this week.

Maffei explains, “[Kane Hodder] also did the mo-cap for Grandpa. They were doing all the mo-cap at once, and they were like, ‘Oh shit, we don’t have a grandpa.’ They were like, ‘Kane, sit in a chair. Be grandpa. Sit back and suck blood. So yeah. That’s fun.”
