Sony State of Play Highlighted by ‘Death Stranding 2’, ‘Until Dawn’ and ‘Silent Hill 2′ [Trailer]

That rumour last week regarding Death Stranding 2 and Until Dawn proved to be correct, as Sony addressed both games during their State of Play today. Not only that, but we also finally got an update regarding Bloober Team’s upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake, the long-awaited Silent Hill: The Short Message, Judas and more!

After multiple leaks that Konami seemingly ignored, they’ve finally announced Silent Hill: The Short Message. Not only that, but you can grab it today for free on the PlayStation 5! A spin-off of the main Silent Hill series, The Short Message is set in modern-day Germany. You play as Anita, who after receiving messages from her friend Maya, ends up trapped in a crumbling apartment block known as The Villa. Unlike previous Silent Hill titles, The Short Message is played from a first-person perspective.

Following the reveal of The Short Message, Konami gave us a long-awaited gameplay update for Silent Hill 2, showing James Sunderland making his way through Silent Hill, battling familiar foes. The trailer doesn’t give us an update on the release date, other than the game being developed for PC via Steam and PlayStation 5.

For PlayStation VR2 users, Deep Silver and 4A Games are returning to the Metro universe with Metro Awakening, which is currently being developed exclusively for Sony’s VR device arriving later this year.

Capcom got in on the fun with a new trailer for Dragon’s Dogma 2, which will be arriving March 22nd for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.

Ghost Story Games and BioShock creator Ken Levine also made an appearance, releasing a new trailer for their dystopian FPS Judas, which calls back even more to the 2007 classic. Titled “Who is Judas”, the trailer shows off more of Judas‘ setting aboard the Mayflower, a spacefaring city whose citizens are trained to tear each other apart for even the most minor infractions, and where machines control every aspect of business, art, and government. You, as Judas, are the driver of every event in a world where every decision you make affects how the story unfolds.

And confirming the rumours again, Supermassive’s Until Dawn will be getting an update makeover release on PC and PlayStation 5 sometime this year. The updated ports will include graphical and performance improvements, courtesy of developer Ballistic Moon.

Rounding things off was Hideo Kojima and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach with a new trailer that’s as epic as it is weird. Norman Reedus returns again as Sam Porter, who is working for a civilian outfit called Drawbridge. Once again, Sam must set out to unite the world, this time with a puppet (!?) in tow. It gets weirder. We see Troy Baker returning as, presumably, Higgs, who this time has dropped his gold mask for makeup that’s straight out of The Crow. Oh, and he wields a guitar that’s also a gun and an axe. Yep. Also returning are Léa Seydoux and Nicolas Winding Refn, while Elle Fanning and Shioli Kutsuna are joining the cast.

Of course, Kojima just had to drop another tease. Along with working on OD, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and the upcoming film adaptation of the first game, Kojima gave Metal Gear Solid fans some love with the announcement of a new action-espionage title called Physint. Production will begin after work is complete on Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Platforms were not announced.

“It will be a brand new, original IP, a next-generation action espionage game,” states Kojima. “Preparations are underway, but production will begin in earnest at Kojima Productions after Death Stranding 2. We have extensive experience with Sony, having grown the espionage genre together for almost 30 years. Also, Sony not only does games, but also music and movies. It will definitely be a strong collaboration. Two years from now, I will celebrate the 40th anniversary of my game production career. I am confident that this title will be the culmination of my work.”
