Short Film Explores the Restoration and Resurrection of the Station Wagon from the Original ‘Halloween’ [Video]

Driven by Michael Myers in John Carpenter’s horror classic, the 1978 LTD Station Wagon from Halloween has been restored, and it drove into Flashback Weekend this past summer.

The Station Wagon was brought to the event as part of a Halloween Reunion, which featured stars from both the original classic and the brand new trilogy of Halloween films.

The press release explained, “Flashback Weekend Chicago Horror Con presents an epic “HALLOWEEN” (1978) and “HALLOWEEN KILLS” (2021) reunion featuring the biggest star (literally) of the original 1978 classic. That, of course, is the original 1978 LTD Station Wagon which Michael Myers stole and used to stalk his victims throughout Haddonfield, Illinois.

“For decades, fans have been wondering what happened to this iconic vehicle. The original 1978 Ford LTD station wagon was rented from a car rental agency for two weeks of filming. After filming was completed, the wagon was returned to the rental agency and auctioned off for private use. It then sat in a barn for decades before being sold to its current caretaker. The Wagon has received a thorough and complete exterior and interior frame on restoration. The Illinois State Logo and Prisoner Cage have been once again added to the Wagon.”

At the event, Sean Clark of Horrors Hallowed Grounds met with the owner Joe to get the full story behind how he found and restored this piece of Halloween history. A short documentary was filmed at Flashback Weekend Chicago, and Sean has now uploaded it online.
