‘Sharktopus’ Remake Trailer – Chinese Creature Feature Brings the Roger Corman Monster Back to Life

Before Sharknado took the world of pop culture by storm, producer Roger Corman unleashed Sharktopus in 2010, a SYFY original movie featuring a monster that was half shark and half octopus. The film ended up spawning two spinoff movies – Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda in 2014 and Sharktopus vs. Whalewolf in 2015 – and now a remake is on the way?!

Yes, Sharktopus is getting a Chinese remake here in 2023, thirteen years after SYFY unleashed their hybrid monster. And the official trailer has arrived this week. Check it out below.

Directed by Xu Shi-Xing and Hu Dong-Sheng, this particular take on Sharktopus looks to be heavily inspired by The Meg, which itself feels like a big budget Corman production.

No word yet on the remake’s international release strategy. Stay tuned for more.

Michelle Ye, Luo Li-Qun, Chen Wen-Jun and Lemon Li star in Sharktopus (2023).
