‘Resident Evil 4’ Remake Receiving Free VR Mode for PlayStation VR2

Fans of Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake won’t have to wonder if the game will be getting a VR mode. With Resident Evil Village receiving its free VR upgrade yesterday, Capcom also announced via Twitter that RE4 will be getting a VR upgrade for the PlayStation VR2.

“The VR mode for Resident Evil 4 has begun development! Please look forward to more details in the future!” read the initial (translated) tweet from Resident Evil’s Japanese Twitter. Following that was a second tweet that read, “The VR mode for Resident Evil 4 will be released as free downloadable content for PlayStation 5 / PlayStation VR2.”

From the sounds of things, the VR mode won’t be making it in time for the remake’s release on March 24, but one never knows.

In other Resident Evil 4 news, Game Informer continued their exclusive coverage of the remake with a new “rapid fire interview” with Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and Director Yasuhiro Ampo. The duo cover 80 questions with topics ranging from RE4 getting a Photo Mode (spoiler: it is), to whether the remake will be getting its own chainsaw controller (spoiler: maybe). RelyOnHorror transcribed some of the choice questions (and responses), so check them out.

The Resident Evil 4 remake is currently in development for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series.
