‘Prey’: Concept Art and Logo Give Us Our First Taste of Disney’s ‘Predator’ Movie That’s Set 300 Years Ago

Announced this morning during Disney Plus Day, Disney’s upcoming Predator prequel will be arriving Summer 2022 on Hulu, and it’s now officially titled Prey (formerly Skulls).

From 20th Century Studios, the return of the Predator franchise is directed by Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), and it’s reportedly a prequel to the original classic that will tell the tale of the Predator’s first journey to our planet.

Amber Midthunder (“Legion”) stars as a Comanche woman who goes against gender norms and traditions to become a warrior. The film’s events are set 300 years ago.

The plan was for Prey to emulate what was so great about the first Predator, only with a strong female hero.

“It goes back to what made the original Predator movie work,” producer John Davis previously told Collider. “It’s the ingenuity of a human being who won’t give up, who’s able to observe and interpret, basically being able to beat a stronger, more powerful, well-armed force.”

As for tone, Davis reveals that “[Prey] has more akin to The Revenant than it does any film in the Predator canon,” further adding: “You’ll know what I mean once you see it.”

“I think this is a worthy complement to the first one,” he adds. “It’s going to be as good.”
