Olivia Munn Enters the World of “The Walking Dead” in Anthology Spinoff

The next “The Walking Dead” spinoff series from AMC is an anthology titled “Tales of the Walking Dead,” and we’ve learned this week that Olivia Munn (The Predator) has signed on.

Variety reports that Olivia Munn has joined the cast alongside Danny Ramirez (The Falcon & The Winter Soldier), Loan Chabanol (Fading Gigolo), Embeth Davidtz (Old, “Ray Donovan”) and Jessie T. Usher (Shaft, “The Boys”). “Olivia, Danny, Loan, Embeth, and Jessie are the latest massive talents that will bring new worlds of TWD to life with big, daring, different, emotional, shocking, scary, and crazy stories. We’re excited for them to come walk with us,” Scott Gimple, executive producer and chief content officer of “The Walking Dead” universe, tells the site.

The show’s six-episode first season is expected to premiere this summer. The idea here is to tell episodic original stories set within the zombie universe of “The Walking Dead.”

The show’s cast also includes Daniella Pineda, Terry CrewsParker Posey, Jillian BellAnthony Edwards and Poppy Liu. Confirmed directors for the “Tales of the Walking Dead” spinoff include Haifaa al-Mansour (Good Lord Bird), Deborah Kampmeier (Star Trek: Picard), Tara Nicole Weyr (The Wilds), and Michael Satrazemis (The Walking DeadFear the Walking Dead).

“Each one hour episode is set within the world of “The Walking Dead” and will feature both new and existing characters.”

Channing Powell (“The Walking Dead”) will the spinoff’s showrunner.

“This series, more than any other in the Walking Dead Universe, runs on new voices, perspectives, and ideas — bringing to life stories unlike any we’ve told before,” franchise architect Scott Gimple said. “I’m thrilled to be Channing’s consigliere, helping in every way I can to make those new visions real for the best fans in TV. I started as a fan of ‘The Walking Dead’ and have ended up as a showrunner of what will hopefully be one of its most unique spin-offs. I’m so grateful to AMC and Scott for supporting me and my writers while we pushed, pulled and poked at the boundaries of this universe to bring you something new and unexpected, while hopefully still tending to what core audiences loved so much about the flagship show.”

This will be the fourth official “The Walking Dead” series, following in the wake of the main show, “Fear the Walking Dead,” and “The Walking Dead: World Beyond.”

A spinoff centered on Daryl and Carol is also in the works.
