Norman Reedus Says Work Has “Just Started” on ‘Death Stranding’ Sequel

Norman Reedus has been picking up some habits from his buddy Hideo Kojima. Reedus has teased additional Death Stranding content multiple times over short time that the game has been out, and the latest tease points to the game getting a sequel.

In an interview with Leo Edit, where the star talks about the final season of The Walking Dead, his new book and other projects, the interviewer mentions Death Stranding, to which Reedus says, “We just started the second one.”

Reedus then launches into how his involvement in the first game came about, thanks in part to Kojima’s other buddy, Guillermo Del Toro. “Guillermo Del Toro, who gave me my first movie, called me up and said, ‘Hey, there’s a guy named Hideo Kojima, he’s gonna call you, just say yes.’ And I go, ‘What do you mean just say yes?’ He goes, ‘Stop being an asshole, just say yes.’ Then I was in San Diego and Hideo came with a big group of people, he’s from Tokyo, and he showed me what he was working on on a game called Silent Hill. I was blown away by what he was showing me, and I was like, ‘Yes, let’s do this.’ It’s not Ms. Pacman; it’s so realistic, it’s so futuristic, it’s so complicated and beautiful, and I was completely blown away.”

Kojima has been coy on continuing Death Stranding, though in his typical fashion, he’s been cryptically hinting at things. We’re still waiting on that horror game that Kojima himself hinted at a few years ago, not to mention that interview with manga artist Junji Ito, where Ito had hinted at the two of them collaborating.

In the meantime, the remaining eight episodes of the final season of The Walking Dead are expected to air later this year.
