Netflix’s ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ – The Creepy Hidden Shot of Leatherface You Might’ve Missed

Here in the horror world, Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022 has proven to be a polarizing sequel, but that comes as no big surprise because, well, what isn’t polarizing right now? Some fans, myself very much included, had a good time with the brutal slasher, while others have various issues that they’ll gladly tell you about over in your social media feeds.

If you missed it, you can read Meagan Navarro’s review for Bloody Disgusting right here. And for my own personal thoughts, you’ll find those over on the aforementioned social feed.

There are a couple things in the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre that you might’ve missed, and one of them is a post-credits scene that we told you about last week. The brief scene teases a future sequel to the new movie, which could very well be on the way. The other one, well, it’s just a fun little blink-and-miss-it moment that we wanted to bring to your attention.

At the 10:45 mark in Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Jacob Latimore’s Dante unknowingly stumbles right on into Leatherface’s domain, intent on removing a Confederate flag that’s hanging up outside. Long story short, Dante has come to the small Texas town to open a new restaurant, he and his gentrifying pals having no idea what they’re about to wake up.

As Dante walks up the stairs of the house that we soon realize is Leatherface’s new domain – a house he shares with his latest mother figure, played by Alice Krige – we see a brief shot of an unmasked Leatherface to the far left of the screen. Bathed in darkness, it’s actually the very first time we see Mark Burnham‘s Leatherface, and he’s gone in the very next shot.

It’s about five minutes after this blink-and-miss-it moment that Leatherface makes his presence known in the movie, director David Blue Garcia teasing his impending arrival to those who were paying close attention. It’s a quick shot that really enhances the atmosphere of the scene if you spot it, as it lets you know that he’s there… and may strike at any moment.

If you missed it, you can check out the shot from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022 below!
