Netflix’s ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2′? Director David Blue Garcia Has “Some Really Cool Ideas”

The late Tobe Hooper’s horror franchise has found a home at Netflix with new movie Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which began streaming this past Friday. The new movie is directed by David Blue Garcia, who definitely sets the stage for a sequel in the film’s post-credits scene. So then, will we be seeing Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 in the coming years, you ask?

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, David Blue Garcia teases that he has ideas in mind for a sequel. Whether or not it happens, of course, depends on how well this one performs.

“I’ve actually brainstormed quite a bit about what would happen in a continuation of this story, or just another tale in this world. I have some really cool ideas that I’d love to have the opportunity to pitch if Legendary wants to make another one,” Garcia tells The Hollywood Reporter this week. “There’re also things when I watched this movie that I look back on and I wish I had done, so I’ve got those in my back pocket if I get to do another one.”

He adds, “And of course, there’s that teaser at the end of the film, so there’s definitely a future to explore.”

In the post-credits teaser scene that David Blue Garcia is referring to there, we see Leatherface return to the infamous house from Tobe Hooper’s original classic, the place where the nightmare began. A battered and bloodied Leatherface stumbles down a dirt path carrying his trusty chainsaw, the filmmakers revealing his old home as the monster’s new destination.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre is now streaming on Netflix. Check it out, let us know what you think, and make sure to stick around for the post-credits scene at the very end of the movie.
