Jamie Lee Curtis Teases a Different Threat to Laurie Strode in ‘Halloween Ends’? [Video]

Michael Myers and Laurie Strode are getting ready to have their final fight in Halloween Ends, which is coming to theaters and also streaming on Peacock on October 14, 2022.

In a new interview that just made its way onto our desk this morning, Jamie Lee Curtis teases Laurie Strode’s mental state in Halloween Ends, set four years after Halloween Kills. In addition to noting that Laurie has moved on from worrying about Michael Myers, a stark contrast from the previous two films in this trilogy, she also seems to tease another threat entirely.

“It’s a movie about a final reckoning… between Laurie and Michael,” she says of Halloween Ends. “There is a battle between them, and the irony is that the 2018 and 2021 movies were about a woman who was prepared for Michael. Every day of her life, since she was 17 years old. This is a movie where she’s actually moved on. Laurie doesn’t see Michael coming.”

Jamie Lee Curtis continues, “And that’s a very different result. So the fight with Michael is much more violent, unexpected, and it has to be like a street brawl.” She adds, “This movie… this other character comes in that she’s concerned about, but she’s not thinking about Michael. And then Michael comes back. And so the fight was an unexpected fight.”

The video interview with Jamie Lee Curtis also features a bit about the film’s opening sequence, which sounds very similar to the opening of John Carpenter’s original horror classic.

The opening of this movie is every parent’s worst nightmare. This is a babysitter with a child on Halloween night, that goes terribly wrong. It’s so crazy intense,” she explains.

Could this opening have something to do with the mysterious “other character,” perhaps?

In Halloween Ends

“After 45 years, the most acclaimed, revered horror franchise in film history reaches its epic, terrifying conclusion as Laurie Strode faces off for the last time against the embodiment of evil, Michael Myers, in a final confrontation unlike any captured on-screen before.

“Only one of them will survive.”

Here’s the official plot synopsis for Halloween Ends: “Four years after the events of last year’s Halloween Kills, Laurie is living with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and is finishing writing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all.”

Nick Castle, the original Michael Myers, had recently noted that Halloween Ends will be a “surprising” conclusion to David Gordon Green‘s trilogy, while makeup effects artist Chris Nelson similarly teased that the third installment in the trilogy is “weird” and “different.” And John Carpenter had also called the new movie a “departure” in a recent interview.

Halloween Ends will also feature the return of Will Patton as Officer Frank Hawkins, Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace and James Jude Courtney as The Shape/Michael Myers.
