We’ve learned the sad news via Deadline this afternoon that Emmy winning actor Ray Liotta has passed away at the age of 67, passing in his sleep in the Dominican Republic.
According to Deadline, Ray Liotta was there filming the movie Dangerous Waters, one of a handful of upcoming projects the prolific actor had been working on this year.
Another one of those upcoming projects is Revenge director Coralie Fargeat’s body horror movie The Substance, which we learned Liotta would be starring in this past February.
Ray Liotta is most known for his starring role in Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas back in 1990, a breakout role that helped make the actor a household name one year after appearing in Field of Dreams. From there, Liotta’s star continued to rise with films including Unlawful Entry, No Escape, Cop Land, Blow, Narc, Smokin’ Aces, Wild Hogs, Killing Them Softly, The Iceman, The Place Beyond the Pines, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, and The Many Saints of Newark. On the small screen, Liotta won a Primetime Emmy in 2005 for a guest appearance on the series “ER.”
On the horror front, Liotta played Paul Krendler in 2001’s Hannibal, and he later starred in 2003’s Identity. More recently, Ray Liotta appeared in Netflix’s comedy Hubie Halloween. Up next, Liotta will be seen in Elizabeth Banks’s thriller Cocaine Bear, which has wrapped filming.
