George A. Romero Being Honored With ‘Night of the Living Dead’ Discord Screening on Halloween Eve

In the spirit of the season, The George A. Romero Estate has partnered with Nifty’s and Polyform Studios to highlight the iconic work of the late “Godfather of Horror,” George A. Romero.

Right in time for Halloween, the partnership will kick-off with a community screening of the iconic Night of the Living Dead co-hosted by Suz Romero, Romero’s wife and founder of the George A. Romero Foundation, beginning at 8:45 p.m. EST on Sunday, October 30th in the Nifty’s Discord server.

In early 2023, there will be release of a unique collection of avatars featuring character references such as “The Survivor,” “The Rebel,” and other iconic zombie film archetypes from the late George A. Romero’s robust catalog.

We’re told, “Romero’s work inspired legions of filmmakers, and keeping in line with his imagination and spirit for storytelling, fans who own these collectibles will be offered a series of tutorials focusing on creative uses of the digital art in this collection, including script writing, storyboarding, rigging and animating their digital avatars.

“The goals of this program are to showcase the work of future filmmakers looking to walk in Romero’s footsteps, and to create a unique storytelling opportunity that brings horror fans closer to the films and characters made by the late George A. Romero.”
