Celebrating the Best of ’90s Stephen King [The Losers’ Club Podcast]

By closing the book on 1999’s Hearts in Atlantis, The Losers’ Club have finally reached the end of Stephen King‘s prolific run in the ’90s. That means it’s time to hand out some awards.

Constant Listeners, you are cordially invited to another round of The Kingies – a night where the Losers celebrate the best (and not so best) of King’s output from 1990 to 1999.

It’s been nearly three years since they put a button on the ’80s, and now they’re ready to do the same for what is arguably King’s most multifaceted decade to date.

From Best Novel to Best Protagonist, Tastiest Poundcake to Scariest Moments, it’s a whimsical conversation that hits upon nearly every title in this particular slice of King’s ouevre.

Those titles include Four Past Midnight, The Wastelands, Needful Things, Gerald’s Game, Dolores Claiborne, Nightmares & Dreamscapes, Insomnia, Rose Madder, The Green Mile, Desperation, The Regulators, Wizard and Glass, Bag of Bones, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, and Hearts in Atlantis.

As is tradition, they also host a round of The People’s Kingies, where we hear from you, the Constant Listener. Let’s just say, the two parties aren’t always on the same page.

So, put on your denim best and attend the only Stephen King awards show that matters below. Then stay tuned next week when the Losers enter Y2K with The Plant and Riding the Bullet.
