With Homelander set to arrive Mortal Kombat 1 this Spring on the heels of the arrival of guest fighter Omni-Man last week, fans have been wondering if actor Antony Starr will be voicing The Boys‘ villain. Seeing as J. K. Simmons reprised his role as Omni-Man, it would only make sense, right? Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that way.
X user Uppercut Editions, LLC. noted that per Starr’s Instagram, the actor was asked if he was lending his voice for Homelander for Mortal Kombat 1, to which Starr said “nope”.
Needless to say, this is disappointing for fans hoping to hear Starr spit out some cold one-liners against Simmons, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and the rest of the Mortal Kombat 1 roster. What’s even more frustrating is that Starr lent his voice to Homelander when he made his appearance in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 earlier this year.
Starr didn’t elaborate on why he won’t be voicing Homelander for the Kombat Pack, so we’re all left to speculate on the reasoning behind his omission. It’s also not known who will be voicing Homelander in place of Starr.
Of course, it could all be one big ruse (this is Ed Boon, after all), but unlike Simmons and Omni-Man, NetherRealm hasn’t made it a point to mention of Starr’s involvement with Homelander as of yet. We’ll just have to wait and see.
