14th Annual “BloodList” – Here Are This Year’s Best Unproduced Horror Screenplays

Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Village Roadshow Pictures (VRP) today announced the 14th annual BloodList, which features the best unproduced horror and dark genre screenplays, highlighting Fresh Blood selections from new unrepresented voices.

In addition to highlighting the below 10 feature and pilot scripts, VRP and Brillstein have selected Sophia Baratti’s MY HOUSE for the ultimate prize of immediately moving forward with development, in accordance with their commitment to produce one Fresh Blood honoree per year. VRP’s Nic Gordon will supervise development of Baratti’s project.

Kailey Marsh, creator of the BloodList and literary manager and producer at Brillstein, said, “The quality of this year’s list absolutely blows me away. We’re so incredibly happy and proud to elevate a new generation of horror voices using the BloodList platform.”

Jillian Apfelbaum and Tristen Tuckfield, EVPs of Feature Film at Village Roadshow, added, “The BloodList is exceptionally valuable for its ability to spotlight scripts from outside the traditional Hollywood ecosystem. Each of this year’s selections is excellent and deserving of the attention and accolades that will inevitably follow. We’re especially thrilled to collaborate with Sophia and her film MY HOUSE.”

LITTLE INDIA, which VRP and Brillstein selected for production from among the 2020 Fresh Blood screenplays, continues to move forward, having recently attached MTV Movie Award winning directing duo, M.A.Y.O., comprised of Priya Sanghvi and Dan Scott Goldstein (DELFINA, BATHTUB) to direct. In 2021, VRP opted to develop two Fresh Blood entries — holiday slasher ON THE FIRST DAY OF CHRISTMAS and horror comedy ZERO FEET AWAY — and past BloodList entries that have made it to the screen include Darren Aronofsky’s Academy Award-winning BLACK SWAN, THE AUTOPSY OF JANE DOE, starring Brian Cox, THE SHALLOWS, starring Blake Lively, and Netflix’s BAFTA-winning HIS HOUSE.
