With Lee Cronin‘s The Mummy trotting into theaters this weekend, the Halloweenies revisit Stephen Sommers‘ 1999 blockbuster hit The Mummy. Starring Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, and John Hannah, the action-adventure film opted for humor over horror, drawing audiences back into the theaters for the rare successful Universal Monsters reboot.
Join Rachel Reeves, Justin Gerber, and Michael Roffman as they excavate the quarter century relic, digressing on its production history, its award-winning crackerjack cast, the ways in which it has become a universal sexual awakening for all sexes, and why this particularly reboot worked in ways the Universal Monsters have previously and since struggled.
It should be noted this episode was recorded in March 2025, back when they had no clue Radio Silence would be involved in a fourth film of this franchise.
