Summertime Update for ‘Dying Light 2’ Celebrates 10th Anniversary of ‘PAYDAY 2’ and More [Trailer]

Summer may be coming to a close, but Techland is still keeping things hot with Dying Light 2 and its Summertime Update for its Summer of Horrors event. Celebrating the 10th anniversary of Starbreeze’s PAYDAY 2 (with PAYDAY 3 arriving in a matter of weeks), a crime wave will sweep Villedor from now until September 21.

Players can expect to encounter Infected Robbers and Thieving Bolters during the event, who once defeated will drop Red diamonds. Collecting diamonds are necessary to complete event goals and be rewarded with items such as a Nightrunner Safety Pack, Dallas Mask, and Money Bundle weapon. These diamonds can also be sold for old time money in game. If the community bands together and gathers 11,000,000 diamonds, each player will score 25 Pilgrim Tokens.

Fans of PAYDAY 2 will also be able to pick up the PAYDAY Bundle for 550 DL Points, featuring the PAYDAY Gang Outfit, Money Bundle weapon and Blueprint, The Change weapon charm, and PAYDAY Paraglider.

The crossover is just one part of the Summertime Update for Dying Light 2. Techland has also introduced Alterations to Dying Light 2, offering players short-timed activities. If you’re not feeling particularly social, these Alterations can be toggled off in the game settings under Community event participation.

Techland has also added a new way of getting skin bundles without having to leave the game in the form of DL Points. DL Points are designed to “ensure a more straightforward user experience and reduce Techland’s operational efforts” when it comes to maintaining the bundles elsewhere. At launch (and provided that you claim them by October 7th), all players will get 500 DL Points that can be spent in the in-game store.

The long-awaited Community Maps feature is also here. Developed in collaboration with mod.io, has been previously only available on PC. With the Summertime Update, you can now play the Community Maps on consoles and Steam Deck.

Lastly, Techland has introduced a few tweaks that will make life easier for players. Those players who enjoy co-op sessions will be able to skip the prologue and jump straight into the action. Content creators will also now have the ability to switch between three levels of brutality in the settings at any time, preventing their gameplay videos from being flagged. More information on these and other tweaks can be found here.

Dying Light 2 is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
