‘Scream VI’ Crosses $100 Million at Domestic Box Office; First in Franchise Since ‘Scream 2’

The Radio Silence-directed Scream VI has already passed the worldwide total of Scream 2022 – $152.7 million for this year’s movie, $137.5 million for last year’s movie – and the franchise’s sixth installment has also notably passed $100 million at the United States box office as of this week. It’s the first film in the franchise to hit that landmark since the original Scream 2!

Way back in 1997, Wes Craven’s Scream 2 ended its domestic run with $101.3 million, a US total that Scream VI is likely going to blow past this coming weekend. The original Scream still has the highest domestic total of the franchise with $103 million (unadjusted for inflation), and when all is said and done it’s likely that Scream VI will snatch away that record as well.

Worldwide, the story is a little bit different. In that department, the original Scream still leads the pack with $173 million (unadjusted for inflation), and that’s a number that Scream VI may not be able to reach in the coming weeks. Again, Scream VI‘s worldwide total currently sits at $152 million, so it’s still got a bit of a mountain to climb there. But we’ll never say never.

Scream VI hitting $100 million in North America was first reported by Variety.

Meagan wrote in her review of Scream VI, “This slasher sequel lets a ruthless Ghostface loose in the city, slicing up an intense, flawless entry that continues the streak of insightful introspection while escalating the thrills, kills, humor, and heart to a breathless degree.”

In the brand new movie, “The Scream saga continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter.”
