‘Ripout’ Gets New Early Access Goodies With Monstrous Update [Trailer]

3D Realms and Pet Project Games’ co-op sci-fi horror FPS Ripout has received its biggest Early Access update yet, complete with a new limited-time discount. Along with the usual bug fixes, the new Monstrous update for Ripout brings a new enemy in the Bulwark, a new mission type, new sidearm, new enhancement pet buffs for your living gun, performance improvements, new animations, and more.

The new Bulwark enemy provides cover for other enemies while under attack, and is fully shielded while walking towards the player. In order to dispatch the Bulwark, you’ll have to wait for it drop its shield to start up its minigun attack. Making thing s a bit easier to take down this monstrosity is the new Buckshot sidearm. As it sounds, this close-range sidearm has scaling damage output based on how close you are to the target, making it a risk/reward gamble for players willing to get up close and personal to foes.

Along with this new enemy and weapon, players have a new mission type to deal with in the recycle bin missions. This mission type requires you to clear up upcoming bio canisters getting fed into the main recycle bin. Fail to clear enough canisters and the recycler will explode and your mission will fail.

Rounding out the Monstrous update are some optimizations and sound improvements for Ripout, as well as new weapon fire animations, the Ammo feed and Module Scrap enhancement pet buffs, and a new destructible station terminal.

And if you haven’t picked up Ripout yet, the 25% discount is a pretty good incentive. The discount lasts until March 1, so you’ve got time to plan out your paycheque accordingly. Check out Harrison’s Early Access impressions if you need some help.

Ripout is currently in Early Access on Steam, with the plan to exit the service later this year.
