New Gameplay Trailer Immerses Players in Upcoming VR Mode for ‘Resident Evil Village’ [Watch]

In case you needed reminding, Capcom’s Resident Evil Village is getting a VR Mode upgrade next week. And to get people up to speed, we have a new trailer showing off the gameplay for the VR Mode, which will be a free DLC, though it will only be available for Sony’s shiny new PlayStation VR2.

Launching on February 22 (the same day as the launch of the PSVR2), the VR Mode will support the entire Village campaign in 4K HDR. Thanks to the PlayStation VR2’s Sense controllers, players will be able to use Ethan’s hands to perform intuitive actions in-game. Weapons also feel tangibly more realistic in VR Mode, coupled with new gameplay elements such as dual wielding and natural motion controls for reloading firearms and brandishing knives give aim to give Village a whole new level of immersion.

And speaking of immersion, the new trailer shows off the improvements made to the VR Mode since its initial reveal way back in June of last year. For one, Ethan can be seen pulling out a torch from his jacket. There’s also the in-your-face swing of Heisenberg’s hammer.

As mentioned, the DLC is free for those existing owners on the PlayStation. If for whatever reason you haven’t yet plunked down money for Village, there will also be a demo of the VR Mode available the same day that the upgrade is released.

Resident Evil Village (sans the new mode so far) is also available for Xbox Series, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
