‘Hollowbody’ Combines Survival Horror With a Tech Noir Aesthetic [Trailer]

If you’ve ever thought of taking Blade Runner in a more horror-themed direction, Headware Games has just the thing for you. Coming in 2024 is Hollowbody, a “tech-noir survival horror short story” that recently revealed its gameplay in a new video.

Per RelyOnHorror, the five-minute video delves into the world of Hollowbody while giving us a taste of some of the game’s narrative-focused gameplay, with a snippet of combat for dessert.

The story for Hollowbody centres on Mica, an unlicensed Shipper working for a ring of black market freelancers. Mica finds herself stranded in a long abandoned British city in the exclusion zone, described as “twenty miles of death and decay sealed off by the towering, suffocating walls erected after the collapse.” With limited resources at your disposal, you’ll have to push your way through the zone while solving puzzles, managing resources and fighting for your life as you try to find a way to escape beyond the wall.

With an emphasis on world-building, Hollowbody will feature classic early 2000s survival horror gameplay, with a blend of cinematic and fixed camera angles. Luckily, there will be “carefully placed save points” to make sure that tension is maintained while also minimizing frustration. There will also be multiple endings for you to discover, as well as New Game+ features.

Currently, you can wishlist the game on Steam.
