A24 Gives Birth to Doomy and Extremely Weird ‘Lamb’ Trailer; In Theaters October 8th! [Video]

A24 is lighting a fire under the Cannes hype that hailed the distributor’s next arthouse horror film, Lamb, as “batshit crazy.”

Today comes the official trailer that’s not only weird as fuck, but also doomy and gloomy, looking like a perfect complement to A24’s The Witch. In fact, it appears as if director Valdimar Jóhannsson was directly inspired by the film.

Lamb is a Christmas-set Biblical horror story of a childless couple, María (Prometheus star Noomi Rapace) and Ingvar (Hilmir Snaer Gudnason), who are sheep farmers in Iceland. On Christmas Eve they find a newborn who is half human, half sheep.

The footage surprisingly reveals some shots of the hybrid child, who looks absolutely adorbs. Yet, the trailer foreshadows something sinister for the couple who decide to keep the lamb-child and raise it as their own.

If you’re licking your lamb chops in anticipation, Bloody Disgusting learned today that Lamb will open in theaters on October 8th!
