Free-to-Play “Biomechanical Nightmare” Title ‘HORDEKILL’ Releases Today on Steam [Trailer]

Touted as having visuals that are a mix of H.R. Giger and Clive Barker according to IGN, Cult Software’s first-person horror exploration/third-person cover shooter HORDEKILL is out today on Steam. And don’t worry if you’re wondering if you’ll have to hold out until payday, as the game is free-to-play, with the only monetization coming from the cosmetic-only player skins, which you can obviously buy separately.

HORDEKILL takes players to an alien world of grotesque visuals and brutal combat. You are an unnamed slave, fighting against your former masters, who in addition to conquering your planet and enslaving your race, have taken delight in torturing your kind, serving you up to be eaten by their higher Lords. As a result, you must exterminate hundreds of extraterrestrial creatures and make it out alive through an underground cave system.

Luckily, you’re not alone in your fight. A fellow slave has escaped and fights beside you with their trusty shotgun, but his fate is to eventually fall in battle. With skill, however, he can cover your back for just a little bit longer.

After every wave of enemies you defeat, you can pick from a series of gameplay-changing cards that make you stronger and the combat more dynamic. From cards that make enemies fight each other, to elite cards that make you deal more damage and spawn grotesque beasts that help you in your fight, no two runs in HORDEKILL are the same.
