Repressed Trauma Takes Monstrous Form in ‘They Wait in Shadows’ Trailer

They Wait in Shadows is the latest horror movie about trauma — but rather than metaphorical, the grief manifests physically, blending supernatural creatures with psychological terror.

The UK independent film will be released on Digital May 12 via Cleopatra Entertainment. Watch the trailer below.

Following the death of their mother, estranged sisters Ingrid and Jenny move back into their family home, where they become plagued by traumatic memories of the monsters they believed existed only in their childhood imagination.

As the nightmarish episodes escalate, Ingrid realizes that her guilt may be feeding the horrors around them — and the monsters begin offering her a chilling, familiar deal. The sisters must face the living embodiment of their trauma and decide whether escaping their past means confronting it — or becoming consumed by it.

Sam Mason-Bell writes and directs. Trash Arts and Sandaled Kid Productions produce.

Jessica Hunt, Meghan Adara, Ross Alan Doney, Simon Berry, Helen Oakleigh, and Charlie Bentley star.

They Wait in Shadows boasts animatronic props, full-body makeup, puppetry, and practical gore.
