The Evil Dead franchise is chainsawing its way back into our lives with brand new franchise installment Evil Dead Burn this year, but that’s not the only new Evil Dead movie on the way.
While we wait for the official Evil Dead Burn trailer, filming is currently underway on Evil Dead Wrath, the upcoming seventh installment in the bloody-as-hell horror film franchise.

What’s the release date for Evil Dead Wrath?
We do not yet have a release date for Evil Dead Wrath, but its franchise predecessor Evil Dead Burn will be released in theaters on July 24, 2026 from New Line and Warner Bros.
With just three years between Evil Dead Rise and Evil Dead Burn, that’s the shortest stretch of time we’ve ever spent waiting for a new Evil Dead movie. But we expect the wait between Evil Dead Burn and Evil Dead Wrath will be much shorter, with Evil Dead Wrath likely to release sometime in 2027 or 2028 at the latest. Who is directing Evil Dead Wrath?
Writer-director Francis Galluppi is in charge of Evil Dead Wrath, a gig he landed after impressing Sam Raimi and company with his debut feature, The Last Stop in Yuma County.
“Francis Galluppi is a storyteller who knows when to keep us waiting in simmering tension and when to hit us with explosive violence. He is a director that shows uncommon control in his feature debut,” producer Sam Raimi told Deadline in an official statement.
The Last Stop in Yuma County followed in the wake of several short films from Francis Galluppi, including Palm Drive, High Desert Hell, and The Gemini Project.
The filmmaker’s IMDb bio notes, “High Desert Hell went on to win several awards, including the Wes Craven Award at the Catalina Film Festival in 2019.”
IMDb’s bio continues, “The Gemini Project, Galluppi’s follow-up film, won Best Science Fiction/Fantasy Short Film at the Burbank International Film Festival in 2020.”

We expect that much like Evil Dead Rise, Evil Dead Wrath will tell a brand new story of a new group of characters being terrorized by the savage horrors within the Book of the Dead.
Deadline had reported when Evil Dead Wrath was first announced, “The project is described as an original story that Galluppi developed and brought to Raimi and team.”
Is Bruce Campbell involved in Evil Dead Wrath?
Evil Dead creator Sam Raimi and franchise producer Rob Tapert will produce via their Ghost House Pictures. Horror icon Bruce Campbell and Evil Dead Rise filmmaker Lee Cronin executive produce alongside Romel Adam and Jose Canas, both of whom worked on Evil Dead Rise.
In a recent chat with Forbes, however, Bruce Campbell noted that his direct involvement in the Evil Dead movies has become less and less as the years have gone on.
Campbell told Forbes, “We had a meeting a couple of years ago and the French director [Sébastien Vanicek] of Evil Dead Burn was there to experience his first script development meeting. He turned in a 10-page treatment to say, ‘Here’s my rough idea. Here’s what I’m thinking, A to Z’ and I think he got 20 pages of notes back.
“That’s when I said to myself. ‘You guys got this. I think you guys got this.’ I got tired of arguing points with someone who’s 26 years old about story and structure, and all that sort of stuff, and what matters and what doesn’t. So, I just found out it’s way better to just step back.
“I’m partners with the guys. Nothing else has changed. I just told them, ‘Guys. I’m actually doing my own thing now, and it takes a lot of time and attention. If I can get fewer emails for approvals not clogging my timeline, that’s good for me at this point’.”
