South Korean studio Barunson E&A, the producer behind Parasite, has boarded international sales for Inherit, the latest from Shutter and The Medium filmmaker Banjong Pisanthanakun, ScreenDaily reports today.
Davika Hoorne, who previously starred in the filmmaker’s horror movie Pee Mak and in Thailand’s Oscar entry A Useful Ghost, leads the cast.
The plot follows “a wealthy family whose seemingly perfect façade begins to unravel when an ancient centipede spirit infiltrates their bloodline.”
Inherit is an adaptation of the 1991 Thai horror novel Tayat Asun.
Banjong previously revealed to ScreenDaily that this story stuck with him since childhood: “At its core, it’s a story about power, legacy, and the darkness we inherit. It’s a Thai story but told with the scale and sophistication that international audiences crave.”
Thailand’s most successful film studio, GDH 559, is also behind Banjong Pisanthanakum’s upcoming psychological horror movie.
Stay tuned for more as it arrives.
