Shell-shocked students encounter a teacher of the undead variety in our exclusive new clip from This is Not a Test, leading to visceral violence.
Independent Film Company and Shudder will release the film in theaters on February 20, 2026.
In This is Not a Test, “Sloane and a small group of her classmates take cover in their high school to escape their suddenly apocalyptic hometown. As danger relentlessly pounds on the doors, Sloane begins to see the world through the eyes of people who actually want to live and takes matters into her own hands.”
Writer/Director Adam MacDonald (Out Come the Wolves, Pyewacket) adapts the 2012 young adult novel of the same name by Courtney Summers.
“This scene shows how unflinching Adam’s vision for This is Not a Test has been from the start. He committed to both the blood and the reality of the story’s premise through its visceral aesthetic, up-close and intensely felt performances of his incredible cast, and–most importantly–his total unwillingness to compromise. I loved writing the book, and I loved watching every minute of the movie he turned it into,” Summers says of the clip below.
Olivia Holt (Heart Eyes), Froy Gutierrez (The Strangers), Luke MacFarlane (“Bros”), Corteon Moore (“From”), Chloe Avakian (“Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy”), and Carson MacCormac (Clown in a Cornfield) star.
This is Not a Test has been rated “R” for “strong bloody violence, gore, suicide, language, some sexuality, and brief teen drinking.” That shouldn’t be too surprising given the bloody scene here.
Look for Adam MacDonald’s latest in theaters on Friday.
