Neon has acquired the global rights to 4×4: The Event, the sophomore film from writer-director Alex Ullom — whose It Ends was purchased by the studio last month.
Described “Battle Royale meets Saw meets Climax,” 4×4: The Event sees eight contestants enter an illegal sensory-assault livestream where they must kill or be killed using only what they can order online.
Deadline reports that Neon made an aggressive deal to preemptively acquire the project ahead of production, which begins later this year.
Roy Lee (Weapons, Barbarian) and Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity, Insidious) of Spooky Pictures produce alongside Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath for Divide / Conquer, Haley Johnson, and Evan Barber. Image Nation’s Ben Ross and Spooky Pictures’ Jakob Pollack executive produce.
Named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film in 2024, Ullom made his feature debut on It Ends, which premiered at SXSW last year and is due out in theaters this year.
