Although Brain “Q” Quinn is known for comedy thanks to the massive success of “Impractical Jokers,” he’s also a noted horror fan, even appearing in Victor Crowley and Screamboat.
Now he’s teaming with “Impractical Jokers” producer/writer Joe Imburgio to pen ST2EAM, the sequel to Michael Leavy‘s star-studded slasher Stream.
“Me and Joe Imburgio, who is one of the writers on ‘[Impractical] Jokers’ and a very close friend of mine, we wrote the script for Scream 2,” Quinn revealed to Chris Jericho on the Talk Is Jericho podcast. “I’m so excited.”
Quinn explains that he and Imburgio were kicking around ideas with Leavy over drinks after the Stream premiere, which prompts the filmmaker to offer them the opportunity to take a crack at the script.
“We just handed it in last week,” Quinn adds, noting that they wrote a part for specifically for Jericho.
Leavy commented on the news on Facebook: “Q and Joe joining the Stream team is a perfect match for where we want to take this franchise, they get it. From day one, they completely understood the tone. They’re massive horror fans and cut from the same cloth as us.”
He continues, “Their success in comedy translates perfectly to horror, it’s truly a secret weapon. Scares, like jokes, are all about beats, they live and die by timing — and they know how to land both. They know what works. We truly feel this film will thrill our fans, both old and new. So buckle up, ST2EAM is going to be a fun ride!”
Leavy will return to the director’s chair for the sequel, along with Terrifier star David Howard Thornton as the deadly Player 2, producer Jason Leavy, and producer/director of photography Steven Della Salla.
In Stream, a family must fight for their lives as their weekend getaway truly turns into a vacation to die for when they encounter four deranged murderers competing in a twisted game.
ST2EAM will further tug on the thread that was revealed in first film, unraveling the dark web surrounding a twisted game of life and death.
