Edgar Allan Poe Adaptation ‘The Raven’ with Tony Todd Takes Flight Next Week

Based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe, The Raven will be released on VOD January 16 via Buffalo 8, Deadline has learned.

Candyman and Final Destination icon Tony Todd appears in the gothic horror thriller, marking one of his final performances prior to his death in November 2024.

“The Bay” creator Gregori J. Martin writes and directs, adapting Poe’s narrative poems “The Raven,” “Annabel Lee,” and “Lenore.”

Set in a dark and shadowy 1940s-inspired world, the film follows a grieving man’s descent into madness mere hours after burying his beloved Annabel Lee. The appearance of a mysterious raven causes him to be tormented by guilt, supernatural encounters, and the fragile boundary between life and death.

Kristos Andrews (“The Bay”), Victoria Baldesarra, Mike Manning (“Days of Our Lives”), Rae Dawn Chong (Commando), William deVry (“General Hospital”), and Caleb Emery (Summer of 84) also star.

“From a young age I’ve been a fan of classic horror films and the writings of Edgar Allan Poe,” said Martin. “For our film The Raven, we took the romance and tragedy from Poe’s classic poems ‘Annabelle Lee,’ ‘The Raven,’ and ‘Lenore’ and expanded the universal themes of Poe’s works for a 2025 audience.”
