‘Meatly’s Storage World’ Is a Send-up of the First Person Mascot Horror Genre From ‘Bendy and the Ink Machine’ Developer [Video]

If you’re a fan of Joey Drew Studios’ Bendy and the Ink Machine (and its recently-released sequel), you’ll be pleased to know that the developer has recently released a little freebie. Titled Meatly’s Storage World, this short-but-sweet game sees you once again in a first person mascot horror game where, according to the developer (going by theMeatly on itch.io), “you do stuff and not get caught.”

There’s a little more to it than that, obviously. Meatly’s Storage World is a parody of the previously-mentioned first person horror games that revolve around mascots chasing after the player. In this case, the game takes place in a storage locker warehouse, where you’ll be completing some mundance task while avoiding a creepy mascot.

Meatly’s Storage World leans heavily into the clichés of the first person mascot horror genre (if you can call it that), complete with the unnecessarily loud footsteps, the flashlight, a mascot that’s as creepy as it is cheerful, and so on. While the game elicits a few jumps, the main goal is its skewering of the tropes we’ve all seen before. Plus, as mentioned, it’s free!
