Zombie Strategy Survival Sim ‘Quarantine Zone: The Last Check’ Launching January 12 [Trailer]

While Quarantine Zone: The Last Check didn’t meet developer Brigada Games’ targeted release this year, you won’t have to wait very long to get your hands on the game. The devteam has announced a January 12 launch on Steam for the strategy survival sim, with the demo from the October Steam Next Fest still available.

In Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, you must take on the role of a government agent stationed at a critical checkpoint in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. Your job is to screen survivors, manage scarce resources and make some tough decisions regarding who gets in, and who doesn’t.

Between juggling food, fuel and defense systems, you’ll also face the human side of survival: trust, desperation and the consequences of every decision that you make.

For those curious, the full release of Quarantine Zone: The Last Check will sport new features not present in the demo. That includes:

  • A new portable X-Ray machine, which scans a person’s internal organs for signs of infection… or checks whether a survivor is hiding contraband
  • A new metiascope helps inspect people’s eyes for signs of the virus (or you can test for healthy reflexes with the new medical reflex hammer)
  • Use the laboratory to examine survivors with unknown symptoms and discover dangerous new signs of the virus
  • A feeding cage for zombies to dispose of corpses. The government will pay handsomely for them
  • A new base management interface offering a bird’s eye perspective for overseeing and managing all resources from a single interface
  • Zombies can now fall into your base from the rooftops, so be ready to shoot them down
  • Other improvements to refine the base defense mechanics and overall gameplay
