Xyrena Launches Retro-Style Air Freshener Trading Cards Featuring All Your Favorite Horror Movies!

The award-winning fragrance house Xyrena has been conjuring up scents inspired by horror movies for the last few years now, each of them housed inside of retro VHS clamshell packaging. I have personally become a huge fan of their scents, and I rarely leave the house without smelling like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Trick ‘r Treat, Jaws, or one of the many other movies in my scent collection. For 2026, Xyrena has just launched a brand new product.

Xyrena has launched Stubz, the first-ever air freshener trading cards!

Invented by Xyrena Founder and Creative Director Killian Wells, Stubz transforms traditional air fresheners into an entirely new category. Each release features a bold, retro-style design with a detachable trading card via a perforated top — similar to a ticket stub — fusing fragrance, pop culture, and fandom with a nostalgic twist.

More than a novelty, Stubz are built to be true collectibles. Each features a scent curated to reflect its licensed property, paired with a color-coordinated elastic string that complements the artwork. The graded-style top back portion includes a QR code that can unlock bonus features such as curated playlists, trivia, and exclusive offers. Stubz are also compatible with
-standard accessories like trading card binders, sleeves, and top-loaders.

“Air fresheners aren’t something anyone expects to have a visceral reaction to,” said Wells. “So I took my time to develop something that does. My design style pulls from everything I grew up obsessed with — from scratch-and-sniff and prismatic vending machine stickers to comics, toy packaging, lunchboxes, trading card wax packs, and VHS cases. Stubz is an amalgam of it all.”

Xyrena has secured agreements with over a dozen licensors, including Universal Products & Experiences and Legendary Entertainment. The Stubz project was first championed by horror legend Charles Band, founder of Full Moon Features, who was the earliest licensor to support the concept.

“Stubz is totally original, completely collectible, and exactly the kind of disruptive concept I love being part of,” said Band.

“Charles Band has always been one of my industry idols,” said Wells. “His early support of Stubz means a lot to me both personally and professionally.”
