WWE Superstar Bray Wyatt Has Passed Away at 36

A truly one of a kind talent inside – and outside – the squared circle, WWE superstar Bray Wyatt has unexpectedly passed away at the age of 36, we’ve learned tonight.

WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H tweets tonight, “Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda – also known as Bray Wyatt – unexpectedly passed earlier today. Our thoughts are with his family and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time.”

Bray Wyatt is a wrestler we’ve written about quite a few times here on Bloody Disgusting, making a name for himself in WWE due to his horror movie-inspired character. Wyatt, a third-generation wrestler, formed The Wyatt Family in 2012, terrorizing the company as a cult-like figure alongside Erick Rowan and Luke Harper (who sadly also passed away in 2020).

Often wearing creepy masks designed by Tom Savini and his team, Wyatt captivated audiences with bizarre vignettes and even stranger matches, quickly establishing himself as one of the most beloved superstars on the roster. His horror movie antics were dialed up even further when he became “The Fiend” in 2019, a monstrous alter ego to the Bray Wyatt character.

From his eerie entrances that brought wrestling audiences together in an almost ceremonial fashion to his unforgettable promos and unique wrestling style, the “Eater of Worlds” will go down in history as an all-time great character in the annals of professional wrestling, with many fans considering him the true successor to the Undertaker’s throne of darkness.

The wrestling world has lost a brilliant creative mind and a generational talent on this day, one who had so much more left to give. But he will certainly never, ever be forgotten.

Rest in Peace, Windham Rotunda.
