‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey’ – Christopher Robin Revealed in New Images from Horror Movie

A dark retelling of the classic Winnie the Pooh story, the indie horror movie Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey is coming to US theaters on February 15, 2023 courtesy of one-night-only screenings from Fathom Events, and IGN has shared four new images this week.

Of particular note, the images give us a first-look at the film’s version of young Christopher Robin, whose former childhood friends have grown up to become slasher maniacs.

Rhys Frake-Waterfield directed the upcoming horror movie for Jagged Edge Productions.

In this version of the classic story, Christopher Robin is headed off to college and he has abandoned his old friends, which then leads to the duo embracing their inner monsters.

“Christopher Robin is pulled away from them, and he’s not [given] them food, it’s made Pooh and Piglet’s life quite difficult,” Waterfield recently told Variety, detailing the plot.

Because they’ve had to fend for themselves so much, they’ve essentially become feral,” the filmmaker continued. “So they’ve gone back to their animal roots. They’re no longer tame: they’re like a vicious bear and pig who want to go around and try and find prey.”

Waterfield also noted in his chat with Variety that while Tigger and Eeyore won’t appear in the movie due to copyright issues, the story in his mind is that Pooh and Piglet got so hungry they ate Eeyore somewhere along the way. Yeah, it’s that kind of movie.

Amber Doig-Thorne, Maria Taylor, and Danielle Scott star in the horror movie, which is possible thanks to the original story slipping into the public domain. What a time to be alive!
