We’ll Likely Have to Wait Until 2023 for FX’s “Alien” Television Series

Announced at the tail end of last year, Disney is working on the first-ever television series set within the Alien universe for FX/Hulu, with Noah Hawley (“Legion,” “Fargo”) developing.

What we know so far, which isn’t very much at all, is that the series will be set on Earth. FX had teased, “Expect a scary thrill ride set not too far in the future here on Earth.”

When can we expect it, you ask? FX Chairman John Landgraf has suggested today that we shouldn’t expect the series either this year or even next year, but nothing is set in stone.

I have optimism that that show may well roll out in 2023,” Landgraf said during an event today, via Deadline. “It will probably roll out 2023 but we want to get it right.”

Landgraf also noted during today’s presentation, “I think you’ll also see that the show will feel like a part of the cinematic universe you’re familiar with in terms of Alien.”

Noah Hawley had recently noted that the series will not center on Ellen Ripley.

Ridley Scott is expected to be on board as producer.
