Uwe Boll Will ‘Return to Zombie Island’ with Unofficial ‘House of the Dead’ Sequel

While a new adaptation of The House of the Dead is in the works from Paul W.S. Anderson, Uwe Boll is working on an unofficial follow-up to his 2003 film.

23 Years Later: Return to Zombie Island aims to be “a real horror sequel, made the old-school way practical effects, real blood, real locations.”

As the title suggests, the film is set 23 years after the events of House of the Dead. The island is still sealed, and several of the original cast members are heading back.

Boll has launched an Indiegogo to help raise funds for the project, providing backers with exclusive updates, behind-the-scenes access, Q&A sessions, and more.

“This project is being made now because the original never disappeared,” the campaign page states. “Crowdfunding allows this sequel to remain independent and fan-driven, prioritizing practical effects, physical horror, and creative control without compromise.”

In House of the Dead, a group of college students go to a rave on a mysterious island, where they find themselves stalked by bloodthirsty zombies.

Jonathan Cherry, Tyron Leitso, Clint Howard, Ona Grauer, Ellie Cornell, and Jürgen Prochnow starred.
