Tyrant From ‘Resident Evil’ Remake Found in PC Version of ‘Resident Evil 4’

While we’re waiting on Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake, a fan has apparently found some neat pieces of leftover code in the Ultimate HD edition of Resident Evil 4 (which you can snag here). It turns out that among other things, not only did Capcom leave in Tyrant from the Resident Evil remake, but you can actually activate and spawn him in Resident Evil 4!

According to Twitter user emoose, the Tyrant’s AI & data from REmake is buried within RE4‘s code, and can be activated by change around a few bytes. What’s interesting is that the Ultimate HD version of RE4 came to the PC back in 2014, while the HD version of REmake came out in 2015. For those curious, emoose has put together a guide to patch Tyrant back into the game, which you can find here.

Tyrant being in the code for Resident Evil 4 isn’t the only oddity to be found in the UHD version. Along with unused rooms, there’s also a reference to the REmake‘s Hunter enemy in the code. More interesting is that RE4‘s Merchant had what appeared to be a “mood system” that involved him having the ability to adjust prices for items, depending on his relationship with Leon. Presumably, the more you bought, the happier the Merchant would be. According to emoose, there doesn’t appear to be anything online regarding this dropped feature.

The Resident Evil 4 remake arrives March 24, 2023 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.

Thanks to DSOGaming for finding this one.
