‘Twisted Metal’ Peacock TV Adaptation Teased For This Year

After wrapping production back in September, we’ve been waiting to see just when Peacock will reveal the release date for their upcoming television adaptation of Twisted Metal. While Peacock has been mum so far, a recent tweet by PlayStation Studios head Asad Qizilbash implies that we could see the series debut sometime this year.

In a short clip posted to Twitter, Qizilbash posted a video showing elevator doors adorned with Gran Turismo artwork opening to reveal artwork from The Last of Us on a wall. Qizilbash accompanied the video with saying describing PlayStation Productions’ year in an elevator ride. Following that, Qizilbash coyly wrote that we couldn’t see him in the video, but that his head is on fire, followed by clown and fire emojis.

For those unaware, PlayStation Productions is Sony’s arm that deals with adapting the company’s video game franchises into films and television shows, not the actual development of games (though Sony is currently working on a Twisted Metal revival).

Peacock has yet to follow up with a tweet of their own for the release “Twisted Metal”, which will include the likes of Neve Campbell, Anthony MackieStephanie Beatriz, Thomas Haden Church, Samoa Joe (who will be playing Sweet Tooth) and Will Arnett (who is also on as executive producer, and will be voicing Sweet Tooth).

The original take for the live-action series is from the team behind Zombieland and Deadpool, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

The premise for the series sees John Doe (played by Mackie), a smart-ass milkman with no memory of his past, joining the Twisted Metal tournament as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make his wish of finding community come true…if he can survive the savage vehicular combat.
