HBO Max has ordered up “The Penguin,” a spinoff of the hit movie The Batman, and THR reports tonight that Craig Zobel (The Hunt) will be directing the first two episodes.
Zobel (Compliance, “Mare of Easttown”) will also executive produce the spinoff series.
Colin Farrell will reprise the role for the limited series from HBO Max. Lauren LeFranc will write and show-run the Penguin spinoff, which picks up after the events of the movie.
Matt Reeves executive produces alongside Farrell, LeFranc, and Dylan Clark.

Dylan and I are so excited to work with Lauren in continuing Oz’s story as he grabs violently for power in Gotham.”
