‘The Nun II’ Tops the Box Office With $85 Million Worldwide Opening

For the first time since her original Conjuring Universe spinoff movie in 2018, modern horror icon Valak is back up on the big screen in The Nun II, now playing in theaters nationwide.

Here in the United States, The Nun II debuted with $32.6 million in 3,728 theaters, while the horror sequel’s worldwide debut brings the film to $85.3 million in just a matter of days.

The Nun II is sure to cross $100 million worldwide later this week, which will make it yet another financial success for the long-running, billion dollar Conjuring Universe franchise.

But how does The Nun II‘s opening weekend stack up against its predecessor? Back in 2018, The Nun debuted to $53.8 million here in the United States, and it went on to become the most financially successful movie in the entire Conjuring Universe to date. The original movie’s worldwide total reached $365.5 million, a high The Nun II will also aspire to reach.

But for now, The Nun II is at the top of the domestic box office charts, once again proving that Valak has the power to put asses in seats. What’s next from the Conjuring Universe?
