‘The Invitation’ – Sony’s ‘Dracula’-Inspired Horror Movie ‘The Bride’ Gets New Title and August Date

We’re hearing that the first trailer for an upcoming Sony horror movie titled The Invitation is attached to The Black Phone in theaters this weekend, which is actually a project that had been formerly titled The Bride. Last we heard, Jessica M. Thompson was directing for Screen Gems, with the Dracula-inspired film being described as “a contemporary horror thriller.”

The Invitation is said to “tell the story of a young woman who is courted and swept off her feet, only to realize a gothic conspiracy is afoot.” The film will release on August 26, 2022.

Stay tuned for the trailer, which should be coming online soon.

Brad caught the trailer on the big screen before The Black Phone tonight, and he reports back that The Invitation has a similar vibe to Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Our interest is piqued!

Nathalie Emmanuel (“Game of Thrones”), Thomas Doherty (“Gossip Girl”), Hugh Skinner, Sean Pertwee, Courtney Taylor, Alana Boden, and Stephanie Corneliussen star.

Blair Butler wrote the original script, with revisions by Jessica M. Thompson.

In addition to The Invitation, several other Dracula-based or Dracula-inspired films are coming soon, including Renfield, The Last Voyage of the Demeter, and a film from Chloé Zhao.
