The Piper is coming for your children in The Confession, a haunting twist on the legend of the Pied Piper set in modern, rural Texas.
The film hits Digital on January 16 via Quiver Distribution. Watch the trailer below.
It follows Naomi, a recently widowed musician who moves with her young son back into her childhood home several years after the death of her father. In the attic of the house, she discovers a cassette tape on which her father describes a grisly murder he claims to have committed to protect himself from an unknown evil force.
Unsure what to make of this revelation, Naomi enlists the help of an old friend to get to the bottom of the mystery, and together, they discover sinister details about the history of their hometown. As her son exhibits increasingly unsettling behavior, Naomi becomes desperate in her attempts to stop the evil.
Italia Ricci (“Designated Survivor”), Zachary Golinger (A Quiet Place Part II), Scott Mechlowicz (EuroTrip), Terence Rosemore (Superman), Allie McCulloch (“The Resident”), and Justin Matthew Smith (Star Trek) star.
Will Canon (Demonic) writes and directs. John W. Rutland (Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension) serves as cinematographer.
“I always take pieces of my real life and infuse my stories with them. But, for me, this one was different,” said Canon. “I’m from a place like this. I have a young son. And I’m still trying to understand the ways that the people in my family who came before me are affecting my life today.”
The Pied Piper folk tale has inspired other recent horror films, including 2015’s The Piper from South Korean, 2023’s The Piper with Charlotte Hope and Julian Sands, and 2023’s Piper starring Elizabeth Hurley.
