‘Stranger Things’ Creators The Duffer Brothers Have 3 New Series Coming to Netflix This Year

With “Stranger Things” having come to an end, series creators Matt & Ross Duffer are gearing up to depart Netflix and set up shop at Paramount — but they’ll remain involved with several upcoming projects on the streaming giant.

The Duffer Brothers are executive producing three new series slated to debut on Netflix in 2026.

The Boroughs” is set in a seemingly picturesque retirement community, where a group of unlikely heroes must band together to stop a monstrous threat from stealing the one thing they don’t have: time.

The eight-episode genre series hails from showrunners Jeffrey Addiss & Will Matthews (“The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance”).

Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Denis O’Hare, Clarke Peters, Bill Pullman, Carlos Miranda, Seth Numrich, Jena Malone, Alice Kremelberg, and Eric Edelstein star.

The Duffer Brothers and Hilary Leavitt executive produce on behalf of Upside Down Pictures alongside Jeffrey Addiss, Will Matthews, and Ben Taylor

Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen” follows a bride and groom in the week leading up to their ill-fated nuptials. That’s not a spoiler — just read the title.

The atmospheric horror series set is created and written by Haley Z. Boston (“Hunters,” “Brand New Cherry Flavor”).

Directors on the show include Weronika Tofilska (“Baby Reindeer”), Axelle Carolyn (“The Midnight Club”), and Lisa Brühlmann (“Killing Eve”).

Camila Morrone, Adam DiMarco, Jeff Wilbusch, Karla Crome, Gus Birney, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Ted Levine, and Sawyer Fraser star.

The Duffer Brothers and Hilary Leavitt executive produce on behalf of Upside Down Pictures alongside Andrea Sperling and Boston.

Stranger Things: Tales from ’85” is an animated series set in the winter of 1985, where the original Hawkins crew must fight new monsters and unravel a paranormal mystery terrorizing their town.

Eric Robles (“Fanboy & Chum Chum”) serves as showrunner, with Flying Bark Productions (“What If…?,” “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”) as the animation studio.

Brooklyn Davey Norstedt, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Luca Diaz, Elisha “EJ” Williams, Braxton Quinney, Ben Plessala, Brett Gipson, Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips star.

The Duffer Brothers and Hilary Leavitt executive produce on behalf of Upside Down Pictures alongside Shawn Levy via 21 Laps, Dan Cohen, and Robles.

The Duffers are also actively working on a live-action “Stranger Things” spinoff series, which will introduce all-new characters from another town in a different decade.

Stay tuned for additional details and release dates for all these projects.
