Chains can be broken and empires can be shattered in the teaser trailer for “Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord.”
The animated series will have a two-episode premiere on April 6 on Disney+. Two episodes will be released each Monday leading to a finale on Star Wars Day, May the 4th.
Set after the events of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” the show finds Maul plotting to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire. He crosses paths with a disillusioned young Jedi Padawan who may just be the apprentice he is seeking to aid him in his relentless pursuit for revenge.

The voice cast also includes Gideon Adlon, Wagner Moura, Richard Ayoade , Dennis Haysbert, Chris Diamantopoulos, Charlie Bushnell, Vanessa Marshall, David C. Collins, A.J. LoCascio, and Steve Blum.
Newly minted Lucasfilm President Dave Filoni (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “The Mandalorian”) created “Maul – Shadow Lord.”
Filoni developed the series with head writer Matt Michnovetz (“Star Wars: The Cone Wars,” “24”). Brad Rau (“Star Wars: The Bad Batch”) serves as supervising director.
Filoni, Michnovetz, and Rau executive produce alongside Athena Yvette Portillo, Carrie Beck, and Josh Rimes, with Alex Spotswood as co-executive producer.
Darth Maul was first introduced Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace and went on to appear in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” “Star Wars Rebels,” and Solo: A Star Wars Story, along with comics, video games, and more.
