Southern Gothic Horror Game ‘Hotel Espir’ Coming This Halloween [Trailer]

If facing perma death in your games is your thing, Canadian indie devs Lost Souls Interactive have just the thing with their newly-announced psychological horror title, Hotel Espir. Coming to Steam, this narrative-driven horror experience focuses on atmosphere and character-driven storytelling, where every sound can be your undoing.

Set in 1942 Alabama, Hotel Espir casts players as Charles Lemek, a travelling father trying to make it home before his daughter is born. His final stop, the eponymous grand hotel, was built on the grounds of a former plantation in Alabama. Unfortunately, these grounds hold a sinister secret, manifesting in the rise of a vengeful killer from 100 years ago. You must use your wits and sense of hearing to sneak your way out of the hotel before you are caught by the horror stalking those halls.

You’ll need to use both careful planning and investigative skills to navigate the halls of Hotel Espir, discovering secrets along the way to use to your advantage to make it out alive. Every sound can save you or doom you. Move slowly through creaking corridors where even your breathing can draw attention. You’ll rely on stealth, timing, and the hotel’s architecture to stay alive long enough to piece together the hotel’s story.

As mentioned, Hotel Espir focuses on its atmosphere. Described as a “study in silence, memory, and guilt” by the developers, and told through a space that won’t let the past rest. Each floor, hall, and room tells a story.

“We wanted to make a horror game where silence is as important as movement,” explains Lost Souls Interactive Creative Director William Kiley. “Every sound is a risk. Every step could draw something closer.”

Look for Hotel Espir to launch on Steam this October, with a playable demo planned for “early 2026.”
